Wonder what color will be trending in 2019? PPG Paints made its official Color of the Year announcement – Night Watch: a deep, rich green.
“The urge to reconnect with nature is driven by today’s tumultuous, still somewhat rebellious, always-connected society. Empty space in our lives—such as downtime waiting for a bus or lulls in conversation—tends to be filled with the use of our smartphones and devices,” said Dee Schlotter, PPG’s senior color marketing manager. “Being surrounded by Night Watch can give some of that empty space back by pulling our memories of natural environments to the surface to recreate the calming, invigorating euphoria we feel when in nature.”
Embodying the restorative and invigorating euphoria in connection with nature in today’s tumultuous life, the deep hue will no doubt be on more lips and nails this year too.
“The dark green hue pulls our memories of natural environments to the surface to recreate the calming, invigorating euphoria we feel when in nature,” explained Dee. The rich green tone evocative of lush greenery brings nature inside for interiors lack outdoor views.

Designed to channel the old school Hollywood glamor and sophistication, this glamorous kitchen finishes in luxurious emerald green tone with glossy gold toned cabinets, Art Deco-inspired accessories, and lavish black marble accents. Night Watch would make a great blend with gold in this way.
Lauded for its incredible versatility, the hue is a perfect accent color that can be incorporated as an accent wall in the living room or dining room, emulating serene and comforting qualities.
The luxurious vibe of the focal accent wall is perfect for the high-glamour room, and the vase on show gives a good hint at how Living Coral and Night Watch work together.
A deeper, saturated shade of Night Watch complements gray, black white in the bedroom. For exteriors, the classic shade of green also matches nicely with the blue sky and white cloud.
In December 2018, the internationally-renowned authority on color, Pantone announced its annual Color of the Year 2019 — the vivifying and effervescent hue of Living Coral stepped into the spotlight.
Pantone has said that color “has always been an integral part of how a culture expresses the attitudes and emotions of times.” Hence, Living Coral is said to embody warmth, buoyancy and our desire to counteract the negative energy within the ever-changing world. Suggestive of our desire for playful expression, Living Coral is selected as a reaction to the continually shifting modern life.
When it comes to the power of color, as put by Leatrice Eiseman, exclusive director of the Pantone Color Institute, it’s “an equalizing lens through which we experience our natural and digital realities. And this is particularly true for Living Coral. With consumers craving human interaction and social connection, the humanizing and heartening qualities displayed by the convivial PANTONE Living Coral hit a responsive chord,” he added.
Pantone’s Color of the Year is “truly a reflection of what’s needed in our world today”, as revealed by Laurie Pressman, Vice President of the Pantone Color Institute.
With a golden undertone, the color goes well with deep hues as shown in the interior above.
The painted coral wall bathed in sunlight complete with large snugger coral sofa will be a perfect addition to any home.
This living room featuring white cabinets and pastel sofa pairs exceptionally well with coral-colored wallpaper and floor tiles.
Hushing closely to gold, the richly pigmented Spiced Honey is Dulux’s Color of the Year. It pairs nicely with natural elements, and of course the soft pinks we’ve seen in recent years. The color feels grown up, and perfect for a mature looking home.
Matched beautifully with the ceramics and dusty rose colors, Spiced Honey looks great in this living room.
If you’re going to revamp your walls or mix up your home decor in 2019, keeping on top of the color trends, which of these shades will you go for? Spiced Honey, Night Watch or Living Coral all signal an energy and vitality to brighten up your interiors!
