Have you ever wondered how a sofa would look in your living room before buying it? Thanks to the growing number of design apps on the market, trying out furniture with your space is easier than ever. From picking the right paint colors to testing art on the walls, interior design apps have made redesigning your space easy and incredibly fun. I recently tried out EasyHome Homestyler, a mobile app that lets you snap a photo of your room and experiment with 3D models of furniture and lighting with your space. Here’s an honest review of the app.
Creating a New Design
Homestyler asks you to log in as soon as you open the app, and you can choose to sign in with your email, or social media accounts.
You need to be connected to the internet to get the app running, but that shouldn’t be a problem if you’re at home. As soon as you click ‘Create New Design’ , you get the option of taking a photo of your own space, choosing from your mobile gallery, or picking from the app’s gallery of empty rooms. I wanted to try designing a minimalist living room, so I went through their gallery until I found this classic white room with French-style wall paneling and parquet flooring.
Choosing Your Furniture
Here’s the fun bit – picking out furniture!
Depending on the room you’re styling, you can choose from a wide selection of products that are actually sold from various retailers and designers. It was fun going through different furniture types and moving them around the room, especially when you can easily delete them to make room for others. Aside from furniture, there’s a range of accessories to choose from too, like art and sculptures.
The Finished Look
For a minimalist living room, I went for a soft leather sofa, sleek black nesting coffee tables and a pair of modern arm chairs. I liked that the room had a cool vibe to it, so I added a painting and a patterned area rug to tie the look together. For the finishing touch, I threw in a gray sofa throw for a cozy effect.
Walls and flooring can be adjusted depending on your mood too. So I played around with it, until I found a muted gray shade, and lighter flooring.
Augmented Reality Makeover
Like I said, you can also try out furniture with your actual space. Here’s my attempt at creating a relaxing corner at the NONAGON.style office.
Overall, the app is easy to understand and use. It might take a while to mix and match furniture pieces, but that’s the thrill of it! For a free app, it offers you quite a lot of choices when it comes to decor and furniture, along with information on where to purchase it. They do a great job with their 3D furniture models, and lets you adjust where you want the furniture to face depending on your room’s layout. Now, if only you could change the color of the furniture, there’d be so many more designs to create.
If you’re a budding interior designer, or just a homeowner who loves revamping your space, EasyHome Homestyler is worth a download to try it out. Who knows, you might be able to create your dream room without the heavy lifting of moving furniture around.
