How do you tackle space for two children who share a bedroom but want their own private space? A bed bunk divider was the solution for this family!
The brother and sister were aged 10 and 8 at the time, both dreaming of having their own room. The solution was inspired by some of the bedrooms in Le Corbusier’s brutalist structure Unité d’Habitacion which split the rooms in two using wall dividers.
To make the best use of space, they created a freestanding bunk bed divider in the middle of the room, from a mix of formply and plywood. The levels of the bunk bed face different directions.
What’s great about this setup is that each side of the room feels private, although there’s not that much that can be done about playing music or being too noisy!
The two sides of the room feel unique, but both children share a long desk space by the window, where they can do homework.
