The smooth soft linen, great ambient lighting, and sleek bathroom fittings – what’s not to love about spending the night in a cosy hotel room? Seasoned travelers will tell you that a luxury hotel room is worth every penny because you’re paying for more than a place to sleep in. It’s all about having a relaxing getaway, whether you’re exploring a new place or enjoying a staycation over the weekend.

Inspired by his love of travel and the hotel experience, the homeowner wanted to take a piece of luxury back home with him. He sought the help of Ambidestro Arquitetura to upgrade his master suite and guest room to a sophisticated hideaway. Let’s have a look at his hotel-style home.

This is the master suite in the owner’s home in Porto Alegre, Brazil. The color palette is a light combination of oak, gray and white; masculine yet not visually heavy. Despite the room’s narrow layout, the high white ceiling makes the room feel much larger, especially in broad daylight.

In the evening, the room transforms into a warm, inviting space with an ambiance much like a hotel room. The designers paid plenty of attention to the room’s layout, careful to integrate a closet space, an en suite bathroom, and a personal spa. This mimics the experience of being able to access various amenities in hotels easily.

A leather daybed extends from the foot of the bed, giving the owner extra space to relax in front of the television.

The location of the sink area isn’t purely functional, the wide mirror also enlarges the room and reflects light from the windows.

The spa sits at the end of the left hallway, where there is plenty of privacy. The shower area and bathroom are found behind hidden doors along the hallway, making it easy for the owner to go about his daily routine.

It’s not just the master suite that underwent a stylish revamp, even the guest room in the basement of the home was turned into a spa and sauna area.

The room boasts wood-paneled floors and smooth walls that lend to the room’s relaxing vibe. Fitted with a sauna room, a shower area and a bathroom, the entire room offers a sweet escape from the day-to-day worries.

Despite being given a short period to complete the renovation, the designers were able to bring the luxury hotel-experience to this Porto Alegre home. It’s no surprise that the owner fell in love with his new space, a sanctuary from his busy lifestyle.
