She's always struck by the architecture of a building. Originally from London, she is enthralled with the majestic collection of curves and lines that make up the British capital. It's fascinating to see how modern skyscrapers and historic landmarks muddle together in every city. Her Instagram feed is usually full of spiral staircases and tall buildings.
Project:

Casa de Cathy

Sweet but not overly saccharine, Cathy knew she wanted her 62.8 sq meter (676 sq feet) apartment to be colorful — something overly minimal and white would “bore me to tears.” With this in mind, the Taiwanese team A Lentil Design used a sunshine yellow, russet red and calming cool tones to get the balance just right.

The apartment is in Taipei‘s Neihu district, originally fitted with two bedrooms and two bathrooms. The home owner, Cathy, explained that really it was only necessary to have space for two people, so the whole floor plan changed! Bathrooms were joined together, the kitchen was opened up to a dining room and open shelving was created in a bid for easy cooking.

Cathy’s living room is a delight, with welcoming colors and soft furniture that compliments her search for interiors with sunlight, brightness, lightness and a comfortable relaxed lifestyle. Especially take note of the cute storage niches!

Two bathrooms were joined to make one, rearranging the layout and creating space for a dressing room and dressing table. With the whole layout designed to make better access for the toilet and washstand, the room was configured to be space efficient. Sometimes this means there are strange quirks like the wall next to the bathroom is built at an angle! This is actually useful for the flow of the home and works out just right for Cathy — the dining room has more space, and the bathroom has just what it needs.

The bedroom featured a bold red and blue color combination, that comes out so well! In Cathy’s own words, she describes “I enjoy living in the space colors around, it makes me feel relaxed, comfortable and so good.”

The kitchen is A Lentil Design’s favorite room. The yellow brick wall brings warmth and vitality, making the kitchen quite cheerful!

I like the use of sliding doors to make the interiors of the home flow quite naturally.

Cathy is so excited about sharing her refurbished apartment with her husband, describing it as her “dream” home. With the arrangement of warm Scandi-style timbers and quirky colors, the apartment offers a glimpse into laid back living with heaps of sunshine.
