What would the world’s most expensive hotel room look like? Well wonder no more. Over 9,000 sq ft in Las Vegas on the upper floors of the 40-story Palms Casino Resort, artist Damien Hirst has designed a hotel suite featuring artwork in his signature style. There’s a two-night minimum stay for the $200,000 Empathy Suite, making it the world’s most expensive hotel room you can book today, and it’s certainly not without its features.
Damien Hirst Hotel Room
The hotel suite feels like a museum flowing over two floors, and featuring two master bedrooms with massage rooms and even a salt relaxation room. Working with architecture firm Bentel and Bentel, artist Damien Hirst incorporated signature butterfly and pharmacy motifs into the hotel suite including bespoke furniture and six original works. Two bull sharks are suspended in formaldehyde in a white tank along one of the suite walls in Hirst’s 2018 piece The Winner Takes It All.
The Empathy Suite features high ceilings, and a curved 13-seat bar created for guests’ enjoyment. The bar is set with medical waste like his Waste series, and various pill cabinets around the villa. Suspended above the bar is Hirst’s Here for a Good Time, Not a Long Time featuring a marlin skeleton and a taxidermy marlin.
Alongside the bar you’ll find a lounge and a theater room, accommodating up to 52 guests. In the dining area an eight-seat dining table and chairs feature the butterfly motif and a stunning view over the Las Vegas strip.
On the outdoor veranda, there’s a cantilevered jacuzzi carrying through the art motifs with mosaic inlaid butterflies. Throughout the whole suite there are 104 inlaid stone butterflies in the marble floor.
“The Empathy Suite designed by Damien Hirst is the pinnacle of luxury combining museum-worthy art and a truly legendary hospitality experience for the discerning hotel aficionado and casino guest looking for a once-in-a-lifetime Las Vegas stay,” says Jon Gray, General Manager of Palms Casino Resort.
Guests will be offered a private behind-the-scenes art tour of the property and the suite, with a 24-hour butler service and chauffeured car service.
There are butterflies, skulls and pills embroidered on different leather walls and sofas, and up to 200 vinyl pill appliques on the exterior and interior walls. There are 10 panels encasing real butterflies set against a monochrome background, mounted in various areas around the two-story suite.
The two master bedrooms are each fitted with a California King bed, with artwork Casino Royale hung over each one. You can sleep alongside the contemporary art, as part of Palms’ refurbishment project to really allow guests to be fully immersed in art in this way.
If two massage rooms, two and a half bathrooms, healing salt room, gym, jacuzzi and private swimming pool aren’t enough bookings come with access to the Pearl Concert Theatre and the Palms’ recording studio, and an A-list welcome to KAOS day and night club, plus USD10,000 in resort credit.
