When one thinks of dualism philosophy, Yin and Yang instantly comes to mind, a concept describing how seemingly opposite or contrary forces may actually be complementary, interconnected, and interdependent in the natural world.

Akin to Yin and Yang, solidification and fluidity full of the notion of duality, is an increasingly popular concept for designing quirky. A peek at the design world, it’s not hard to find that it is significantly inflated by artworks with the inclusion of solidification and fluidity. Among multitudinous materials, resin has become increasingly sought after as creative inspiration. Artists all over the world are in pursuit of solidifying fluidity in a resinic way into their pieces to reveal how they may give rise to each other as they interrelate to one another.

These are a select handful of our favorite resin art pieces related to the dualism philosophy. Feel the balance between hard, focused, and dry solidification and diffuse, soft, and yielding fluidity, an indivisible whole.

Swirl Vase

A psychedelic update of an Italian post-modernist aesthetic, the pop sensibility of SWIRL is created from a series of geometric forms stacked upon one another to create multi-dimensional, functional sculptures.

The unique process involves recycling the powdered residue from the marble industry, mixed with pigment and resin to create blocks of material that can then be sawn, sliced and turned on a lathe. STEM, SMALL and MEDIUM vases are inspired by Ikebana, which is the Japanese art of flower arrangement. Anchored with a heavy base, the cylindrical vessels allow branches and flowers to cantilever out.

Agape Resin Art

The emerging brand Agape Resin Art is founded by a young Hong Kong designer, Rolland Cheung. He came across resin material by chance and was captivated by the nature of this liquid, such flowy properties and high luster upon hardening. It was a material that resonates with the beauty of water – the origin of life.

When Rolland discovered resin materials, he knows it was his calling. Then he started mixing the clear material with colors and creating flowy strokes on them, now it has become his signature.

This Wall Art is made of Epoxy resin. Abstract lines and blended pigments captured the essence of a winged angel. Besides a wall art, it can also be made as a wall clock by installing clock hands.

Koi Fish Resin Painting

NONAGON style n9s serene life art workshop resin art koi fish couple cherry blossoms

Amazing hand-painted resin art piece! Steady but dynamic. You can feel the water movement with the realistic fishes. With gleaming scales and beautiful movement, these fish look like they could be plucked straight out of the water. A bucket seems to be filled with fast-moving goldfish rests in shallow water. However, it is only on closure inspection that it becomes clear that these are clever optical illusions.

They are 3D resin art paintings which can be special artworks to show the energetic movement of fish. In Chinese culture, ‘fish’ symbolize positive meanings. The character ‘fish’ in Chinese language has the same sound as the word “abundance,” so the idioms of ‘fish’ are signifying luckiness and fortune of the year. Also, the wall art allows you to decorate your home by adding some vitality.
