Our modern homes speak similar languages. They are all designed around comfort, convenience and sophistication. However, the one thing that defines the individuality of each of these gorgeous homes is their occupants. The lives and lifestyles of the people who dwell in these homes define the personality of each of them. From ornate mansions to humble lofts, they are a representation of who lives inside.
This stunning penthouse in Moscow is home to a family of 5 – a young couple and their 3 lovely kids. They all love to travel, spend time together, and, like most modern families, love technology. When they approached the designers to help them with the interiors of their new home, the direction was clear. They wanted a modern home with spaces designed for them to spend quality time together and also enough private areas for each member of the family.
The living area was one of the most important rooms for the family. They wanted a common zone equipped with all the essentials for a perfect family room. The styling and decor was, however, left to the interpretation of the designers, and I think they have done an incredible job. This room is just as stylish as it is functional.
The overall decor of the living area is quite eclectic, with carefully curated furniture and accessories that blend in beautifully. The giant sectional sofa will comfortably fit the family of 5 and looks perfect in this space. Paired with it is a tanned leather swivel chair that is completely different in style but is at home in this space. The coffee table has a throwback look to it and the black floating block under the TV adds to the contrasting features in this room.
The individual items brought together to decorate this room are distinct in their style and texture, but their fusion and thoughtful use in this space make perfect design sense. The designers loved working on this room and the owners were extremely pleased with the final look.
The penthouse has attic-like windows on both sides of the apartment. This adds an interesting feature to the rooms. Glazed windows bring in tons of light in, making the apartment bright and airy.
Another interesting feature of this living area is the amount of hidden storage space added to the room. The owners wanted to have enough space to stack away essentials from plain sight, so the designers have cleverly incorporated these details in the design and made them into interesting visual attributes.
Every part of the house has been carefully designed keeping in mind the minimal and modern aesthetics requested by the owners. Hidden behind walls are all the necessary appliances and kitchen equipment. A more muted color palette has been used to accentuate minimalism and make the apartment look more chic. I love the idea of opaque cabinet doors used here, but that means one needs to make sure that everything inside is neatly stacked at all times.
The random web-like chandelier above the dining table is absolutely stunning. It looks like something right out of a 3D printing manual. The thin wires are almost camouflaged in the background leaving tiny bulbs illuminating the space. Use of mirrors around the dining area also help make the room look wider and bright.
The master suite is a luxurious minimal space flawlessly designed to include all of the owners’ requirements. The backlit wall was custom designed instead of a headboard. It adds a unique style to the space. I love the soft color palette and the cozy textures used in this room. The two swivel chairs by the window add a vintage Hollywood feel to the room. It looks like a perfect spot for relaxation while not compromising on style at all.
An ensuite bathroom and a walk-in closet complete the master bedroom. The bathroom has similar marble clad walls like the dining area and the floating shelves under the TV mimic the ones in the living area. These simple details help in creating a connectivity in design theme across the apartment.
I would never dare to use sheer doors for my own closet, but it does look gorgeous here. There is plenty of storage space for all personal belongings in this custom designed closet.
It is beautiful how the designers have incorporated different textures and materials in this bathroom. These materials take hints from other parts of the apartment, but come together to create a completely new look here.
The kids’ bedroom was another interesting design process for the designers. The owners wanted something special and unusual for their three kids, while aesthetically following a similar tone like the rest of the house. This enchanted bedroom surely hits the perfect notes. It is a minimal room with creatively designed spaces for fun and study.
A giant moon, a play house and cushions climbing up the wall. It is a space right out of a kid’s best daydream. I am sure the siblings are making some amazing memories to cherish forever.
Notice the haphazard pattern of the wooden floor tiles. They add another interesting element to the room.
The kids’ bathroom is less enchanted but the tilted sinks and a crow sitting beside them does add an element of fun here. It is a space that can be easily adapted for the grownups.
The guest bathroom also hides a washer and dryer behind a folding wall.
This colorful and chic home office has so many interesting features. It is an eclectic mix of some of the best modern design styles. The 3D textured wall and a bubble chair by the window make it feel like an outdoor space. The colorful chairs and shelving units contrasted by a wooden desk steps up the style quotient of this room. I think this room would make a perfect place to work from home.
This beautiful contemporary Moscow penthouse is ageless as it fuses the best elements of design and functionality under one roof. The owners were speechless when they visited their newly decorated home and are now enjoying every bit of it.
