Stripcase

Design:

Stripped back and pulled together again, the Stripcase is Ofist‘s special staircase designed as a focal point and a functional central architectural feature for their client’s home.

It’s not always that you see a staircase and go “wow”. But it is with delight and curiosity that this special staircase demands your attention. The previous staircase was not ideal, being situated in the wrong spot and looked too old fashioned in this modern apartment.

With enthusiasm, the staircase was redesigned. The new form is a set of floating wooden steps framed within an industrial-style structure. It’s just the treads, and the frames holding it. See-through and yet it proudly commands attention from the center of the room, reveling in its calm and serene environment.

“The staircase formed itself like a space ship which has just landed and is about to fly away any time.”

The Istanbul design agency has been featured on NONAGON.style before with an apartment that looks out over the Bosphorus Strait.

From the designers:

In order to connect the two floors to each other, Ofist only used some fuzzy, horizontal layers.  When all needed amount of construction put together, the staircase formed itself like a space ship which has just landed and is about to fly away any time.

As well as a stairway, it functions as a bookshelf, storage unit, space for flower pots, acting as a room divider. It opens up the door to a new way of looking at spiral staircases!
