Amidst the fresh vineyards and the sought-after tavernas of rural Stamata, this exclusive suburb in Attica is now host to a growing number of modern residences. With the appeal of a tranquil life by vast farmlands, it’s no surprise that this young man chose to start his family dream in this small town situated less than 30km from the capital of Greece.

An avid fan of the Rubik’s Cube, he sought to create a home that reflected his passion for playing the challenging game. And with the help of Kipseli Architects, his four story home came to life as an architectural masterpiece that embodies youth and imagination.

For a small town holding strict regulations for developing buildings, this whimsical home was designed to make maximum use of limited space. The house goes up four floors, and has its own roof terrace and a compact outdoor swimming pool.

At first glance, the home seems like your regular townhouse block until a closer look reveals its triangular shape. Facing slightly to the west, its facade opens wide to receive more sunlight and frames the main entrance and swimming pool nicely.

The bright orange walls are not accidental. The designers chose to integrate the vibrant colors of the Rubik’s Cube around the different corners of the owner’s home.

The atrium welcomes guests with a generous amount of light thanks to the glass windows that span across three floors. As soon as you make your way through the hallway, the owner’s collection of figurines and books greet you.

Mid-century modern seating can be found in the living room, taking you to a different time. And here’s a fun fact: the owner loves Star Wars and there are some signs of it hidden around the house if you can spot them!

The kitchen area is beautifully tiled with blue and brown patterns, a stark contrast to the bold, plain walls around the house. While there may not be a dedicated basement for wine, a custom-built wine rack was installed to accommodate his growing fascination with wine inspired by the rich vineyards of the region.

The second floor is where the bedrooms and playroom are situated, sporting pops of green and yellow much like the Rubik’s Cube. Meanwhile, red tiles cover the bathroom walls, completing the color scheme.
