A cursory glance over the most popular design trends of recent years confirms it: minimalism is the decade’s undisputed king of home aesthetics. But could that all be about to change? If Instagram has anything to say about it, potentially yes. Whilst my feed still has its fair share of crisp, all-white spaces, vibrant bursts of color and playful prints galore are steadily making their way into the fray. To no one’s surprise, I am utterly beguiled. Ahead, this edition of Spotted on Instagram rounds up the very best examples of statement wallpaper. Keep reading for more.

Statement Wallpaper

Floral Fancy

A floral accent wall is just the thing to have you waking up on the right side of the bed in the morning.

Here, the green, pink and white of the wallpaper is echoed in the room’s furnishings to create a subtle aesthetic cohesion. Though maximalist spaces typically exude effortless clutter vibes, the secret to success actually involves careful planning and attention to detail!

Stripes Away

The traditional vertical stripe wallpaper receives a thoroughly modern makeover.

Classic meets hand-drawn whimsy with this red, white and blue option. Minimal styling is the only additional design needed to ensure this corner packs a punch.

Sealed With a Kiss

Loose lips may sink ships, but they also happen to make for a stunning design feature.

Paired with a velvet emerald sofa and oxidized mirror finish side tables, this space should by rights be more than a little extra. Yet the abundance of natural light and white accents pares down the extravagance of the individual pieces, leaving in its wake the perfect balance of bold glamour and aesthetic restraint.

Puppy Love

A black and white palette makes this an almost minimalist take on the statement wallpaper trend.

Cobalt blue accents and kitsch puppy details infuse the space with electric vibrancy, adding a kick to this otherwise monotone space.

Cut The Mustard

Busy wallpaper and children’s bedrooms go together like milk and cookies.

But forget about cartoonish animal graphics and Disney doodles. Instead, artsy prints and muted hues are setting the tone for a children’s space which actually looks good. Case in point, this eclectic mid-century modern-inspired beauty, wrapped in a botanical-themed mustard graphic.

Gold Standard

Think of gold as the dressed up version of your typical neutral. In wallpaper form, that means gold is a good versatile option, no matter how abstract the print.

Inspired by the glossy finish of the marbled wallpaper, this space delights with a cacophony of textures. Velvet armchairs, a soft pile rug and shiny chrome details make it enticingly tactile and aesthetically pleasing.
