The trouble with cities is the competition to find the perfect home. Even in large countries like China, Shenzhen has grown in wealth and population in the last few decades, which has made it harder for young professionals to live comfortably in the metropolis. To tackle this, Shenzhen is launching an eastward development project and if all homes will look as good as this space, we foresee urbanites will be pretty happy.
This project is the Yanlord Clubhouse; a multipurpose, versatile functional space with a cafe, swimming pool and yoga room among its many facilities. By taking into account both the ecosystem and the cultural context of the surroundings, the clubhouse offers the possibility of emotional and intuitive experiences geared toward the younger crowd.
The heart of the project is a 60-seat cafe and bar meant to be used as a multifunctional meeting spot for meetings, networking events and parties. Using natural peacock green as the main tone, the space is equipped with different furniture elements including three-seater booths, four-person sofas and a bar counter, in order to meet a variety of functional needs. Boasting flexibility in layout and style, the space is adaptable for different activities and events, tailoring the aesthetic to use.
The folding glass panels allow inclusive use of the space, adaptable to the flexibility and interconnectivity of emergent urban lifestyles.
Supportive spaces, such as the multi-functional kitchen and recreation room, makes it a hub for small parties and activities. Cooking classes can be held here too.
At the service counter, there are stacked boxy elements with an unconventional arrangement of aluminum ceiling bars aligned vertically, horizontally or even obliquely along with the semi-circular terrazzo area on the floor. These symbolize the Shenzhen skyline with its scattering of buildings and interconnected road networks.
As a stunning backdrop to the swimming pool, a colorful metal shingle accent wall is decorated with aluminum panels. Is this attention to detail another one of the features that might tempt people to this area of the city? Most certainly!
Drawing inspiration from the mountain ranges, the abstract patterns combined with a color palette of white and peacock green evoke a spectacular mountain view, encouraging us to retreat from the bustle of urban life into the blue serene.
Architecture has an emotional impact on us as humans. Through an understanding of the experiential realm of city life, the design team pays great attention to the emotional experiences of urban space. Yanlord Clubhouse is a destination that could really pull a crowd.
